Treats! Hint, hint, hint! That would make me a happy DOT!

Guess what came in the mail the other day! The new Doctor's Foster and Smith catalog! I told mom very blatantly they had good treats in it, but I don't think she has checked it out much yet. Always so busy... What's a poor dog to do? How much more of a hint can I give her??? Maybe I should promise to learn new tricks if she orders some? I hope this will give her the hint!!

Maggie's Yard, Happy DOT

MaggieMae is indeed a happy dog on this thursday! Her back yard was finished with the fencing last sat. I finally got pics today. She loves running the little animals out of the yard. And since it has been raining the last couple days, it has been a blessing to me not to have to walk her in the rain! Good job on the fence Henry. Thank you again!
Didn't realize the last picture of her is kind of a compromising one, but wanted to show the size of the yard a bit better!

First Vet Visit (DOT)

Today was MaggieMae's first vet visit here and my first time with this vet. We both absolutely loved her and she was quite taken with MaggieMae. This lady goes to the same church I do and so I decided to give her our business. It is also closer than the previous vet I'd seen for my other animals. Anyway, her checkup was fine. She also got her heartworm test, and passed it just fine. She is a few pounds overweight but not as much as I had thought. I think once she the yard is fenced so she can run and play in it she will get more exercise. She was very well behaved, better than any other I've taken to a vet's office. I was very proud of MaggieMae for her calm and good behavior.

The vet said she thought she would be a ver good therapy dog. I am not rushing that at this point, although that is still my intention. Nice to hear another opinion in favor of it however!

Grandkids' Artwork

Had the grandkids here today (they are off school this week for spring break) while my son-in-law was working on the new fence for MaggieMae. They decided to do some artwork for grandma. So I put it on my computer desk and decided it was "post worthy". They are 8, 3, and 5.... the order left to right of the artwork. They finally went home as daddy had to get ready for work and MaggieMae and I get to relax a little till the next phase of the fence begins!

Growing Closer (Happy DOT)

Just got a reminder from a very special niece it is Thursday. Thank you. I did remember last night but had not thought about it yet today. So now back to what I was thinking about last night.

MaggieMae and I are bonding more each day. She comes to greet me at the door when I've been gone some place for a few hours. She has started to "bump" me with her nose to get my attention when I'm sitting at my computer. (My poodle Andy had done that a lot to get my attention.) If I sit on the recliner or the couch she is right on top of me, literally! The other night, she was not in the living room and when I went to look for her she was already on my bed! First time she did not wait for me!

Yesterday I was working on the "stay" command in the living room and she did pretty good. Of course, a little eager since I was using treats...smile. She does listen and mind pretty well anyway, but I thought it was time to start using a little more training and control. I am definitley thankful for this animal God has placed in my care. Next week first visit to the vet for checkup and heartworm test. Now where did I put her records????

New collar from Petsmart last week too. She looks "fetching" in it!

MaggieMae New "Doo" (DOT)

Well, I finally got MaggieMae to the groomers. It was kind of difficult deciding how she should be trimmed up. I finally made a decision and I was quite pleased with the results. I found out she is not as overweight as I first thought! She is just about right weight-wise for her size. Most of that was hair! With her new "doo" I see more of the terrier in her. I love how I can see her eyes now, and that brings our her personalitly more. She is still unbelievably soft! My apologies to her previous owner who I know liked her with long hair, but this will be more managable for me to take care of her and I think she will not be overheated during the summer. She seems to be content no matter what. She came back and immediately did about 8 runs around my large living room. It was quite a funny sight! I love how happy dogs seem to get when they get bathed. Like a new lease on life or something! (Too bad it's not that easy for us humans!)
